Event Management at the University
University of Melbourne events reflect upon the University's overall image and reputation. Events such as seminars, public lectures, laboratory openings, book launches and conferences showcase the University to its external stakeholders. Successful events, particularly those that engage with the wider community are a key element of achieving the University's knowledge transfer goals. The delivery of a range of high quality events drive positive event based brand experiences for the University.
It is therefore crucial that all University events are presented professionally and consistently comply with University policies and procedures.
University event staff are supported in a variety of ways.
Open Day
Every year the University hosts Open Day and invites prospective students, parents and the community at large to find out more about studying at the University, experience the campus and get a taste of all the University has to offer. The event is managed by the events team in Marketing Communications.
The events team coordinates the infrastructure planning and production of Open Day and provides support to faculties and departments in planning a range of activities for the day. An Open Day committee with representatives from each faculty and administrative department participating meets regularly from March until August to coordinate planning.
A range of merchandise and support materials including Open Day program and corporate promotional material is planned and implemented by the events team.
Open Day 2009 will be held on Sunday 16 August 2009.
