Public Lectures
Free Public Lectures
As part of the University's contribution to the intellectual life of Melbourne and its commitment to knowledge transfer the University hosts a selection of public lectures by prominent local, national and international speakers.
The Marketing and Communications Division coordinate a number of high profile University public lectures including International Public Lectures and the Chancellor's annual Human Rights Lecture.
The majority of public lectures at the University are organised at a department or faculty level. The Marketing and Communications Division can provide some coordinated promotional support for free public lectures organised by an internal department, faculty or affiliated organisation.
Public Lectures - Promotional Support available
The objective of this support is to ensure that the general public can better access the Free Public Lecture Program, and to assist departments in marketing their lectures. The Free Public Lecture Program traditionally includes a selection of public lectures by prominent local, national and international speakers with lecture topics selected for general interest and accessibility.
We invite University departments and centres to advise us of any free public lectures and we will endeavour to provide promotional support.
Promotional support will be in the form of:
- Listing in the Free Public Lecture bulletin. This bulletin is distributed on campus, and via email to over 1000 members of the general community who subscribe to the bulletin.
- University departments and centres are also encouraged to include their lecture on the University's internet events calendar. (To submit your lecture details onto the events calendar visit http://events.unimelb.edu.au/ and click on 'submit an event'.)
